Casting Crowns are musicians who never quit their “day jobs”: More than half the band is on staff at Eagle’s Landing First Baptist Church, where A Live Worship Experience was recorded. The album opens with the appealingly undone hymn “At Calvary,” followed by a folk-flavored cover of “Great Are You Lord.” The band also showcases their gentle pop leanings on “You Are the Only One” and the feel-good “Thrive.” Frontman Mark Hall is the consummate worship leader throughout, offering cues to the enthusiastic hometown crowd so they can joyfully sing along.
