About this album
The Scots’ hearty, bare-chested rock travels in surprising directions on their seventh album. The keening anthems remain—“Wolves of Winter”, “On a Bang” and “In the Name of the Wee Man” are bespoke stadium rousers—but the band’s confident explorations into emotive folk (“Medicine”), freak-out funk (“Flammable”) and twinkly country (“Small Wishes”) showcase a special band’s enduring capacity to intrigue.
