About this album
With their second release, She’s Like Texas, the Lone Star State’s Josh Abbott Band perfects their earthy, fiddle-laced country-rock blend. The urgent feel of the raw, rocking, riff-chomping album opener “Road Trippin” and the greasy, swampy, banjo-laden stomper “Brushy Creek” make that abundantly clear. But when Abbott intertwines his big pipes with those of a pre-fame Kacey Musgraves on the romantic, acoustic-based duet “Oh, Tonight,” the band’s way with a ballad becomes equally obvious.
