The Kings inch closer to the arena rock crown with an expansive, grown-up take on their Southern blues. Recorded in their hometown of Nashville, there's an undeniable tip of the Stetson to country storytelling on this third album, whether it’s emotive seven-minute epic "Knocked Up” or the blazing emotional core powering "On Call". But mostly the Followills sound like no one other than themselves and by the time frontman Caleb’s scratchy howl lights up the squalling guitars on “Charmer” they’ve dragged the Grand Ole Opry to CBGB.
