SlimeBall 3

Young Nudy once said he identified with Chucky (as in, yes, the homicidal doll). In other words, don’t press play on the third instalment of the Atlanta rapper’s SlimeBall series expecting sunshine and smiles: “Love seeing feelings get hurt,” he rasps on “Do That” in a voice that drips with emotion while delivering even the most cold-blooded lyrics. Most of SlimeBall 3 sounds like a haunted carnival—cue the eerie pan flutes—but the occasional moment of whimsy cuts through the darkness, as on “Sherbert,” a breezy summer jam whose beat could be a trapped-out ice-cream truck jingle.
