Creedence Clearwater Revival

Creedence Clearwater Revival’s 1968 self-titled album—the first LP by the legendary blues-rock outfit—contains some of singer John Fogerty’s most sensual (“I Put a Spell on You”) and grittily rockin’ (“Porterville”) material. Deeply original, it has proven to be one of the foundations of ’60s American culture. The darkly psych-tinged “Suzie Q,” for one, features dusty guitars and drums that stand out in the entire rock canon for their infectious, inspired groove.
