Traditional Music of India

Plucking at the strings of his sarod with hypnotic finesse and elegance, Ali Akbar Khan plays in a manner that lulls us into a state of trance-like ecstasy. The way he bends his notes on the mesmerizing "Raga Chandranandan" transports us to another plane of thought, and his resonant drone on "Raga Ramdas Malhar" soothes like a gentle lullaby. Meanwhile, the percussive momentum of "Raga Malika" is sensuous in its sinewy but driving momentum.
