About this album
At the close of the ’60s, Fairport Convention made what is often regarded as the most influential folk-rock album of all time. There are many reasons for this, one being the supple, emotive vocals of Sandy Denny that haunt the ethereal “Reynardine” and ripple through the ill-fated love triangle at the heart of “Matty Groves.” Then there’s the interplay between Richard Thompson’s guitar and Dave Swarbrick’s fiddle: a sparring match on the jazz-tinged “Tam Lin” and a skipping dance on “Crazy Man Michael.”
