Spiders On The Keys (Live At The Maple Leaf Bar, New Orleans, LA / 1977-1982)

Distilled from some 60 hours of music recorded at New Orleans' Maple Leaf Bar between 1977 and 1982, this fittingly titled album of solo instrumentals captures the piano great at his most comfortable and complex. Sounding like two players at once, he applies his jazzed-up, fourth-dimensional boogie-woogie to standards ("Sunny Side of the Street," "Eleanor Rigby") and compelling originals ("Papa Was a Rascal," "Gonzo's Blue Dream").
