Hopes and Fears (Deluxe Edition)

Three men and a piano nail anthemic arena rock at their first attempt. Even without guitars, Keane’s politesse, emotion and epic choruses immediately place them in the same big-capacity ballpark as Coldplay and Snow Patrol, with “Bedshaped” and “Somewhere Only We Go” ready-made festival closers. Groove and forward-momentum give Keane songs their identity though and the dancefloor textures of “Unititled 1” and “Sunshine” suggest a band already investigating promising new paths.
