American Man: Greatest Hits, Vol. II

Meriting a second greatest-hits album speaks volumes about Trace Adkins’ career, and this one is just as packed with prized picks as its predecessor was. While it doesn’t skimp on songs that underline his rugged, man’s-man side, the collection also shows there’s more to his musical makeup. Raw, rowdy twang fests like “Ladies Love Country Boys” and “Rough & Ready” make the most of Adkins’ mile-wide baritone, but when he leans that big papa-bear voice into tender tearjerkers like “You’re Gonna Miss This,” his gravitas comes through even more clearly.
