Gil e Jorge

One of Brazilian pop's most singular and thrilling albums was recorded live in the studio, with Gilberto Gil and Jorge Ben improvising nine lengthy songs with only a bassist and percussionist for support. Their fluid, propulsive acoustic guitars weave remarkably complex melodies underneath their entwined voices on the bluesy "Nêga" and the incandescent, soaring "Filhos De Gandhi." Disco fans, pay particular attention to the hypnotic "Taj Mahal": Rod Stewart borrowed the chorus melody for his hit "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?"
