About this album
Chris Webby is a rapper who values his reach. On Wednesday's opener, “Raw Thoughts,” he takes five minutes to call out “mumble rappers,” complacent hip-hop fans, and just about every major U.S. politician of the past two years. The album is a culmination of the Connecticut native’s “Webby Wednesday” campaign, wherein he’d release a new piece of content each week throughout 2017. Wednesday is punchline-heavy, filled with bars like “Fans be lining up outside my concert/Like the ticket to my show was a court subpoena” on “Friend Like Me,” but it's never one-dimensional: “Call on Me” is a dancehall-inspired cut and a break from the relentless bars, while the soft synths of “Twist Again (La La La)” will elicit a grin from even the most experienced of smokers.
