About this album

On his fourth solo album, Lil Wayne’s officially grown into his greatness, moulding his endlessly pliable flow into unexpected new shapes. It’s thrilling to hear him bend language according to his will on “Go DJ”—a springy homage to its producer, Mannie Fresh, and a master class in casually off-kilter turns of phrase. The Cash Money heir is breezy and confident on twangy reintroduction “This Is the Carter,” but on the bittersweet “I Miss My Dawgs” he reminisces about each of his former Hot Boys.
