Cowgirl's Prayer

Cowgirl’s Prayer is a righteous mix of cuts that reflect Emmylou Harris’ folk and country foundations. A little rock ‘n’ roll is in the fray, too, with the simmering “High Powered Love,” a song powered by a metallic honky-tonk guitar tone and bubbling organ. On Lucinda Williams’ fiddle-imbued “Crescent City,” Harris pines for the comfort of home. A complex tale of lost love, “Ballad of a Runaway Horse” is given a heartbreaking, stripped-down treatment highlighted by Harris’ expressive, powerful delivery.
