About this album

The multiple manifestations of Louisiana singer, songwriter, and pianist Mac Rebennack fill this concise collection. There's the ebullient second-line Mardi Gras parade leader ("Iko Iko"), the raucous boogie-woogie piano virtuoso ("Tipitina"), and the mellow jazzbo ("In a Sentimental Mood"). Dr. J won a jazz GRAMMYⓇ for "Makin' Whoopee!", a high-spirited duet with Ricky Lee Jones, while "Right Place, Wrong Time" virtually defines rocking Southern funk.
