About this album

Das prophetisch betitelte „Antichrist Superstar“ aus dem Jahr 1996 bedingte den von heftigen Kontroversen begleiteten Aufstieg Marilyn Mansons. Mit viel Lust an Theatralität und Schockeffekten entwarf die nach ihrem Frontmann benannte US-Band in ihrem finsteren Gegenstück zur Rock-Oper „Jesus Christ Superstar” ein apokalyptisches Horrorszenario. Den Soundtrack liefert ein Mix aus stampfendem Industrial-Metal und sinistrem Gothic Rock, was besonders auf den Singles „The Beautiful People“ und „Tourniquet“ zu hören ist.
