Memory Bomb

Kiefer Shackelford’s sunny, chilled-out mix of jazz, hip-hop, R&B and electronic music is a great encapsulation of West Coast Black pop circa now—think everything from Frank Ocean to Thundercat to Jeff Parker rolled into one bright package. A UCLA-trained pianist and composer, Shackelford has a knack for jazz miniatures that feel both complex but breathable (“Memory Bomb”, “Entr’acte”) alongside vocal R&B that brings ’90s neo-soul up to speed with today (“Get to the Moon”). Perfect for weekend mornings when you’ve got nothing to do (or at least wanna feel that way).
