About this album
Recorded during a 12-concert run at Madison Square Garden in 2006, this album leans towards Billy Joel’s ’70s and early-’80s heyday. He sounds as energised as the crowds that erupt at the opening trills of “New York State of Mind” and sing along with multipart epic “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant”. This is the first time “Piano Man” has appeared on a live album, and it’s electrifying to hear his signature song about being the underdog echoed by thousands as a triumphant anthem.
