About this album

In 1975, George Clinton’s P-Funk ensemble was at the peak of its powers. At seven songs, Mothership Connection is tight but leisurely. The band effortlessly oozes juicy basslines on “Supergroovalisticprosifunkstication (The Bumps Bump)” and globular grooves on “Mothership Connection (Star Child)”. From the sonic stew, a pair of indelible anthems emerge. With their chanted catchphrases, spaced-out harmonies and gurgling instrumentation, “P-Funk (Wants to Get Funked Up)” and “Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker)” are inventive, intoxicating and comical all at once.
