About this album
After a successful, if tumultuous, run with Crosby, Stills & Nash, Neil Young had a lot to prove with this landmark solo album—and it does not disappoint. Sticking mainly with the country-folk sound that he helped popularize, he gently pulls us in with tender songs like the winsome waltz "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" and "Oh, Lonesome Me", brings us to our feet with strident rockers like the fierce "Southern Man" and draws a tear with the haunting title track.
