On their second album, Dallas metalcore pacesetters Memphis May Fire flesh out their sound, tackling new elements that expand on their already impressive dynamic range. "The Burden (Interlude)" is a gothic instrumental decorated with digital stutters and mournful piano, while "The Haunted" groans with clanking industrial noises that sound like a factory roaring to life. But that doesn’t mean MMF have forgotten how to execute a full-on metalcore assault, as unflinching tracks like “The Victim” and “The Unfaithful” demonstrate with furious aplomb.
