About this album

A world away from both the playful electronic beats of Start Breaking My Heart and the sleeker, house-oriented grooves of Our Love, this 2007 album finds Caribou scratching a distinctly ‘60s-inspired itch. “Melody Day” weaves a tangled web of acid rock, falsetto vocals and shimmering Summer of Love tambourines; “After Hours” sinks into a heavenly bed of backmasked guitars and airy harmonies. By the album’s finale, though, he sets aside his dog-eared copy of Pet Sounds to lean into a throbbing psychedelic techno.
