The Complete Studio Albums (1970 - 1990)

This is a 2013 collection of 10 albums that ZZ Top recorded for Warner Brothers over the band's first 20 years. This set also includes the original LP mixes of ZZ Top's First Album, Rio Grande Mud, and Tejas, which have been unavailable since the CD age. Before its unexpected rush of success in the '80s, ZZ Top had been one of the heaviest blues bands to come out of Texas. Billy Gibbons is a well-acknowledged guitarist. His limited vocals—and those of bassist Dusty Hill—served the band well throughout its long career. Tunes such as "Jesus Just Left Chicago," "La Grange," "Heard It on the X," and "Tush" were textbook rock 'n' roll blues for the '70s. With 1983's Eliminator, ZZ Top made the jump from respected rock 'n' rollers to mainstream MTV superstars with the '80s productions driving the hits "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Sharp Dressed Man," and "Legs."
