Lex Hives (Deluxe Edition)

Few bands could whip themselves into a frenzy as immediately as The Hives do on their fifth album, thanks to 68-second opener “Come On!” The energy level stays firmly in the stratosphere for the T. Rex-on-steroids muscler “Go Right Ahead” and the jittering New Wave workout “1000 Answers”, peaking with the adrenalised punk catharsis of “If I Had a Cent”. The rowdy Swedes dial back even more of their signature slickness for the distorted garage-soul romp “Midnight Shifter”, a highlight that revels in rough edges.
