Destiny’s Child sharpen their focus and turbo-charge their swagger on their fifth album, with songs like the hyperactive “Lose My Breath” and the sinuous T.I./Lil Wayne collab “Soldier” fusing the trio’s spiky harmonies to stuttering beats inspired by early-’00s hip-hop. But Destiny Fulfilled also shows how the trio can strut with deep feeling; the sun-dappled throwback jam “Girl” offers a friend a shoulder to cry on, while “Free” uses spiralling vocal melodies to echo the joy of kicking a bad boyfriend to the curb.
