Here EDM kingpin David Guetta releases his most personal work yet, an album written in the wake of a divorce from his wife of 20 years. Even though it's rife with huge beats, ecstatic choruses, and mellifluous crescendos—and has a guest list resembling a GRAMMY® after-party (Sia, Nicki Minaj, even 2014 summer sensations Magic!)—Listen distinguishes itself from other releases in Guetta's catalog with its contemplative moments. "What I Did for Love" features somber pianos. "Listen" is melancholy and introspective, while "The Whisperer," with its circular pianos and plaintive chorus, forgoes a beat entirely. Fear not, though: "Lovers on the Sun," "Lift Me Up," and "Hey Mama" are all bangers.
