About this album

Featuring 10 covers of soul and doo-wop classics, Under the Blue Moon lays bare New Edition's connections to the past. Tracks like their version of The Penguins’ pretty 1954 ballad “Earth Angel”—mixing Ralph Tresvant’s sweet vocals with a rubbery synth bassline—fuse the sounds of two eras with effortless panache. While New Edition are cherished for their bubblegum pop and clattering new jack swing, they also could channel the spirit of their soulful musical forefathers.
