About this album
The definitive musical document of the funk forefathers (and mothers!), Higher! originally appeared as a four-CD set containing 77 songs, spanning the band's highest heights and rarest unreleased tracks. Sly's early, teen dance-crazed R&B is here ("I Just Learned How to Swim", "Temptation Walk"), as are his most iconic psychedelic-soul hits, though often as live or alternate versions ("Danse a La Musique"). A slew of demos and instrumentals completes the picture of the band's inimitable, soulful sound.
