Jars of Clay: Greatest Hits

This concise introduction to Jars of Clay features their early work from 1995 to 2007. During this stretch, their sound veers between rich, atmospheric folk rock injected with darkly infectious choruses, as heard on “Flood,” and the fully electrified alt-rock propelled by stabbing guitar leads of “Dead Man (Carry Me).” It’s all connected by the sublimely slow and pained voice of Dan Haseltine, whose self-doubt even haunts the soulfully uplifting and rootsy “Show You Love.”
