This box set doesn’t just unearth ephemera from Jane’s Addiction’s classic 1986–1991 period—it practically locks you in the jam space with the alt-rock legends as they lay down fierce takes of songs that would surface on their first three albums. Cabinet’s first two discs are given over mostly to demos that show future prog-metal showstoppers like “Three Days” already in battle-ready shape; on the third disc, a live set from 1990, ragers like “Ain’t No Right” capture Jane’s in their mosh-pit-stoking prime.
