About this album

On their debut album, The Stooges laid the groundwork for the shape of punk to come. Only eight tracks long, The Stooges covers immense ground: The dirty and complex sonic onslaught of “I Wanna Be Your Dog” finds itself anchored by a sleigh bell. Sparse, gloomy, 10-minute-long “We Will Fall” takes its cues from psychedelia, complete with chanting and a haunting viola. Through it all, Iggy Pop wails, moans, and finds his way as an iconic frontman, a position he never relinquished.
