Formed in 2011 by a crew of Odd Future affiliates, this California soul collective have a wise-beyond-their-years sound and a knack for easygoing grooves. “Fastlane”, a highlight from the group's early days, blends boom-bap beats with experimental jazz, while L.A. traffic serves as a metaphor for hesitant love. Since then, their songs have stayed sultry but have significantly upped the funk: “Come Over” is a punch-drunk crush anthem in which Syd's featherlight vocals stay deep in the pocket, while handclap-heavy bopper “Roll (Burbank Funk)” is made for roller rinks and disco dance floors.
