About this playlist
One of the most prodigious singer-songwriters to come out of India in the 2010s, Prateek Kuhad can build deeply emotive tales with just a guitar. Releases such as debut LP In Tokens & Charms (2015) and EP cold / mess (2018) spread his aching indie balladry and longing lyricism well beyond his native Jaipur—or his temporary hometown of New York, where he studied. Singing in Hindi or English, Kuhad artfully layers melodies of sheer beauty and tenderness balancing Indian folk nostalgia and synth-hued pop reverie. But his heart-warming harmonies also coloured Bollywood dramedies, like Karwaan.
