Jonas Blue made his name with a 2015 cover of Tracy Chapman's “Fast Car”, channelling the sunset vibes of tropical house through a wistful, nostalgic lens. Those impulses shade much of the London-based producer's work, which dances delicately on the borderline between club music and pop. In “Mam”, trap snares bounce around glistening marimba melodies; his remix of Zedd & Alessia Cara's “Stay” juggles melancholy hooks with a sleek, uptempo groove—a banger, no doubt, but unusually light on its feet. “Perfect Strangers” offers a similar mix: a pulse-quickening trip shaded by the memory of full-moon parties and beach kisses.
