В это время в ФРГ выпустила свой первый альбом панк-группа Einstürzende Neubauten, название которой переводится «падающие новостройки». В этом же году случился прорыв группы Ultravox. Свой первый альбом выпустила американская группа ESG, треки которой впоследствии разобрали на семплы многие хип-хоп-команды.
