Bethel Music have evolved into a sprawling worship collective since their founding in 2001. A solemn intensity permeates every member's contribution and lends cohesion to the band's music: Jenn Johnson gives an intimate, soul-baring delivery on the ballad “In Over My Head (Crash Over Me),” while Amanda Cook belts it out on the pounding, electronic-washed declaration “You Make Me Brave.” Although Leeland's guitar-heavy slab of Christian alt-rock “Lion and the Lamb” possesses a significantly different sonic profile than the other songs, all tracks are grounded in a heavy, heartwarming earnestness.
